Elliott Ratliff
Brass
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pa, Trombonist Elliott Ratliff began his trombone studies at the age of 9. He received his Bachelor's degree in music education and trombone performance at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and his Master's degree from New Jersey City University.
As a professional jazz trombonist, he has performed with big jazz names like Roger Humphries, Harold Betters, and Al Dowe, He is the Band Leader for the “Steel City Jazz Katts” www.steelcityjazzkatts.org and has performed with various groups such as the Bone Forum Big Band, Celebrity All-Star Band out of Atlanta, Georgia, Jazz-In-Your-Face Big Band in Johnstown, Pa, and many other jazz groups and community bands.
He is a member of the Pittsburgh Musicians Union Local 60-471 and an elected delegate/representative for the American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada. He spends a lot of time teaching and promoting music and passing on his knowledge to the younger generations.
He lives a motto, "Music is not what I do. It is who I am. Music is my religion".
Although Elliott is primarily our brass instructor he has experience teaching just about every instrument Noteworthy Music has lessons for!
