Jay is a songwriter, arranger, and performer, with a down-to-earth folk style. He uses vivid storytelling techniques and delicate acoustic melodies to connect with his listeners. He has performed at the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Arts Festival since 1987, the Spring Fever Folk Festival, and the Art and Music Festival at SRU, along with the annual Fair in the Park. 

Jay has earned the title of Best Acoustic Musician from the Pittsburgh City Paper. He won Best Song in the Canadian Narrative Music contest in 2005, and his CD "Gentle Persuader" was named one of the top ten CDs by WYEP in Pittsburgh.
